How do I accurately measure my ring size?

The most accurate way to determine your ring size is to have your finger size measured by a local jeweller. If you are unable to do this then making use of our standard ring sizes would be the next best option. Please note that we always recommend that an exact ring size is given to us to ensure the ring fits perfectly.

What is your guideline for ring sizes?

In our studio we use standard British measurements for sizing which makes use of an alphabetical letter for each ring size. The various ring sizes fall into the following categories:

Women’s Sizes:

X-Small: H to I and a half
Small: J to L and a half
Medium: M to O and a half
Large: P to Q and a half

Men’s Sizes:

Small: O to Q and a half
Medium: R to T and a half
Large: U to W and a half

WHAT IF I NEED MY RING RESIZED?

We unfortunately cannot take responsibility for incorrect sizes supplied to us when ordering rings but we are more than happy to resize your ring that we have manufactured to ensure that it fits perfectly. All silver rings that do not have gemstones in them will cost R100 to resize, and our gold plated rings that do not have gemstones in them cost R150 to resize.  The solid gold rings that do not have gemstones in them will cost R250 to resize. If your ring has gemstones in them the price will be determined by how many sizes up or down the ring needs to go. Please note you will have to cover the courier fees.

If you have purchased a standard ring (not custom) from our store that is the incorrect size and it has been unused/unworn we will happily exchange the ring for the correct size at no extra charge. Please note that the courier fees will be for your own cost.  Our shipping terms and conditions can be viewed here.

HOW DO YOUR STANDARD CHAIN LENGTHS WORK?

Most of our necklaces can be ordered in a length of 40cm, 45cm, 50cm, 55cm or 60cm chain unless otherwise stated. Longer or shorter chains are available on request.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHERE A NECKLACE WILL SIT ON ME?

We recommend measuring the length of an existing necklace to get an accurate idea of chain lengths. Alternatively the below chain length chart can be used as an estimated guide. Where the necklace sits on every individual person will vary depending on the thickness of their neck and the length of their torso.

HOW DO YOUR STANDARD BRACELET SIZES WORK?

Our bracelet sizes are measured by length in cm. You may choose between the sizes below:  

Small: 16 cm in length
Medium: 17cm in length
Large: 18 cm in length

WHERE IS MY PARCEL SHIPPED FROM?

All orders are shipped from the MRJ studio in Durban, South Africa.

WHERE DO YOU DELIVER TO?

We try our best to offer delivery to all areas locally and internationally but if you need a delivery to an area that does not usually receive deliveries please contact us and we will look into different couriers and the options available. 

Please note that parcels cannot be delivered to P.O. Box addresses, a physical address is required where someone will be available to sign for receipt of the parcel.

IF MY PURCHASE IS A GIFT, CAN IT BE SHIPPED DIRECTLY?

We love gift giving and celebrating special occasions! We can definitely ship the parcel directly to them. Leave a note in the comments box at checkout with their full name, shipping address and a personal message (if you would like one sent on a note card with the parcel).

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY PARCEL HAS BEEN SENT?

Once your parcel has been sent out to you a shipping confirmation will be emailed to you detailing your order and delivery information together with your tracking reference number. You can use the tracking reference number to track your order on the courier’s online tracking service.

HOW IS MY ORDER PACKAGED?

Our MRJ everyday range of rings and bangles are all packaged in a white or grey organza bag which is placed in a little card box with tissue paper, and tied with grey and white twine and a branded card is placed on top of the little box. 

Our MRJ everyday range of earrings and necklaces are packaged on a white MRJ card and placed in a card box with tissue paper, and tied with grey and white twine and a branded card is inserted on top of the little box.

All solid gold custom made rings are packaged in hard cover leather box.

IS THERE AN OPTION FOR ME TO COLLECT MY ORDER?

Yes, you are welcome to collect your order from the MRJ Studio in Durban by appointment to ensure that we are available to hand over your beautiful parcel to you. We are open every weekday between 8:00 am and 16:00 pm. Our studio is in 39 Station Drive, The Design Factory, Level 1, The Commune.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON EXCHANGES?

In some instances we understand that pieces purchased might need to be exchanged for something else and we are more than happy to assist you with this.

Please note that we unfortunately do not issue refunds for change of mind purchases, unsuitable purchases or for an incorrect purchase. Instead a credit note for our online store will be issued according to the value of the piece purchased for exchanges received within 2 weeks of the receipt of your parcel. Our credit notes are in the form of a gift card, issued once the piece has been received back by us and it’s condition has been inspected and found to be in order. These gift cards are valid on the online store and in our studio in Durban for a period of 1 Year.

Please note that we unfortunately cannot accept returns or exchanges when the pieces purchased:

  • Are earrings (due to hygienic reasons our earrings cannot be exchanged).
  • Have been worn/ used or are damaged.
  • Are returned outside of the specified return time frame of 2 weeks from the receipt of the parcel.
  • Are engraved or stamped pieces.
  • Are a custom order.

Please note that the cost of returning the piece to our studio will be for your own cost.

CAN I CANCEL MY ORDER?

If you have had a change of heart and would like to cancel your order please contact us via our email michelle@michellerobynjewellery.com immediately. Unfortunately orders that have already been sent out for delivery cannot be cancelled and custom orders that have had their deposits paid for cannot be cancelled.

REPAIRS & RESTORATIONS

If your piece of jewellery were to somehow arrive damaged, please contact us immediately and we will rectify it. We are always happy to help repair your beautiful MRJ piece. Please kindly note that usual wear and tear incurred during the course of normal wear is not considered to be a defect in the piece. Jewellery is delicate and should be handled carefully as per our Jewellery Care Instructions which are noted here. 

In the instance where damage is caused by wear and tear a repair fee will be charged. The cost of the repair is dependent on the damaged sustained to the piece and will be communicated to you before any repair work commences. The item can be dropped off at the MRJ Studio in Durban by prior arrangement or sent via courier to our Studio.

MY GOLD PLATED ITEMS NEED REPLATING, CAN YOU ASSIST?

Gold plating naturally wears away over time and you are welcome to bring your piece through to our studio in Durban so that we can replate the piece for you. The cost to replate a piece is R100-00.

DO YOU OFFER A CLEANING SERVICE?

Yes! We are able to clean your pieces in our studio in Durban. The cost to clean a piece is a R100-00.

GIFT CARDS, CARE, & MORE

HOW DO YOUR GIFT CARDS WORK?

Our gift cards purchased online are virtual gift cards, and are valid for a period of 1 year in our online store and at our studio in Durban. An email will be sent to the email address provided at checkout once the payment has been processed. There is also an option to include a message to be sent along with the gift card.

CAN PIECES BOUGHT BE STAMPED OR ENGRAVED?

We are able to add an inscription or a symbol to some of our pieces, making them even more personalized and special. Should you want a piece to be stamped or engraved please check for the options box when selecting the piece. If there is no option for engraving or stamping on the piece please contact us directly with your instructions so that we can add this to your piece for a small fee. Where stated some of the pieces already include stamping or engraving.

HOW SHOULD I TAKE CARE OF MY JEWELLERY?

Jewellery is extremely delicate in nature and extra care needs to be taken to ensure the piece remains in a good condition.

Jewellery is best stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Jewellery will tarnish in moist conditions.

You will need to take your jewellery off when sleeping, exercising or swimming. The acidity in the wearers skin can cause tarnishing to the piece of jewellery.  It is advised to remove your jewellery when applying products to your skin such as lotions, make-up and perfumes as they will weaken the links and settings on your jewellery and can cause the jewellery to tarnish. Please note that chemicals in jacuzzis and swimming pools along with certain household cleaning products may make jewellery turn black in colour. 

It is a good idea to inspect the piece on a regular basis to ensure that there are no weak clasps or settings and to regularly clean the piece to maintain it’s sparkle and shine.

WHAT CAN I DO IF MY PIECE HAS ALREADY TARNISHED?

You can purchase a jewellery polishing cloth for home use which will often remove tarnishing and will brighten up the piece. Some warm water mixed with a drop of sunlight liquid used with a soft brush will also help to remove dirt. Once you have cleaned the piece gently you would need to rinse the piece off well and dry it properly. You are welcome to bring the piece through to our Studio in Durban where we can polish and/ or clean the piece for you at a small cost.

Please note that Morganite rings require cleaning and can look dull after wear.
